A note from Pastor Chris Kopp:

Psalm 34:18 (CSB)
18 The LORD is near the brokenhearted;
he saves those crushed in spirit.

After personally living through the disasters of Katrina and Galena's 2013 flooding, I'm all too aware of the disaster that happens after the disaster. Misinformation, bureaucracy, and the overwhelming desire to do something without clear knowledge of what to do! It's such a monumental challenge when the disaster is still unfolding and the future ongoing plans are still being formed in real time. That said, we are wanting to direct our ChangePoint Alaska family to 5 ministry response options to aid current evacuees, current efforts in the effected villages, and long term future engagement as the long term plans are formed for these communities.

To help Evacuees in Anchorage and Bethel:

Financial contributions to meet immediate needs can be directed to:

Donations

Donation of NEW goods can be donated to Lynden Air and partner airlines. Updated needs are being posted here:
We have ministry partners who are actively using their aviation options to have boots on the ground in the affected communities. Funds can be donated to offset the cost of remote flying to our ministry partners SEND North and Arctic Barnabas Ministries.
To support Arctic Barnabas' efforts please select "Aviation Fuel Up"
To support Send North's Western response please include "Western Alaska Flooding" in the gift notes section:
Finally, this disaster will not be resolved quickly. Many ministries are still waiting for final decisions to be made on how the State and Fed will respond so that we can respond appropriately to serve our fellow Alaskans in the affected communities.

We are committed to step alongside our ministry partners that work on the state level to engage in recovery efforts when those plans are able to be engaged. We've been in conversation with Samaritan's Purse who is still waiting to hear how the tribes and state will proceed.

Be PRAYING about next summer's plans as that will most likely be when materials and weather will allow for actual rebuilding efforts to begin. Connect to ChangePoint online to hear of ongoing opportunities to assist.

Our hearts are with the thousands of Alaskans that have been affected by these devastating floods.
